Dieses Soundtrack-LP enthält Songs, die alle in dem 1986 erschienenen Coming-of-Age-Film Stand By Me unter der Regie von Rob Reiner enthalten waren. Der Film basiert auf Stephen Kings Novelle The Body, wobei sich der Titel von dem gleichnamigen Song von Ben E. King ableitet. Der Film spielt 1959 in der fiktiven Stadt Castle Rock, Oregon, und zeigt Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman und Jerry O'Connell als vier Jungen, die eine Wanderung unternehmen, um die Leiche eines vermissten Jungen zu finden. Der Erfolg des Films weckte erneutes Interesse an Ben E. Kings Song "Stand by Me", der 1986 wieder in die US-Billboard-Top-10-Charts einstieg. Der Soundtrack ist vollgepackt mit großartigen frühen Rock-&-Roll-Hits. Der Film mag nostalgisch gewesen sein, aber die Musik auf diesem Soundtrack klingt auch Jahrzehnte nach der ursprünglichen Aufnahme noch lebendig.
