Blues for the Red Sun, is the most cohesive and thoroughly enjoyable project the desert-dwelling crew of Josh Homme, John Garcia, Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri made in their tumultuous and brief time as a unit. In fact, the fuzz-loaded riffage and dusty, drawly wails caught the ears of Metallica, who loved it enough to take Kyuss out on tour — and then jock some of their sound on Load and Re-Load. Who can blame ‘em? These songs rip.
