This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) è il terzo album in studio e la seconda pubblicazione con una major label della band alternative metal americana Chevelle. Raggiungendo il numero 8, si posizionò più in alto nella Billboard 200 rispetto al suo predecessore, Wonder What's Next. This Type of Thinking segue generalmente lo stesso stile heavy di Wonder What's Next, con singoli popolari come "Vitamin R" e "The Clincher". È stato il primo di due album prodotti da Michael "Elvis" Baskette. Questo è stato anche l'ultimo album con il bassista Joe Loeffler, che lasciò la band nel 2005.
