Per Low Country Blues Allman si unisce al produttore roots delle star T-Bone Burnett. Il duo sceglie 11 cover relativamente oscure di artisti classici come Bobby "Blue" Bland, Junior Wells e B.B. King che hanno chiaramente influenzato l'approccio musicale di Allman. L'accompagnamento è organico ma tutt'altro che spoglio, con fiati, chitarre multiple e persino coristi che supportano il ringhio roco che contraddistingue il cantante.
