Pubblicato nel maggio 1986 su SST Records e Blast First! nel Regno Unito, EVOL era il terzo album in studio dei Sonic Youth e mostrava i primi segni della trasformazione del loro passato No Wave in una maggiore sensibilità alt-rock.
