Despite its title, Alexisonfire’s Crisis finds the Southern Ontario screamo quintet confidently harnessing chaos and melody in perfect tandem. Screamed-and-sung singles “This Could Be Anywhere in the World” and “Boiled Frogs” deliver post-hardcore energy and some of their hookiest choruses, while the album perfects the give-and-take vocal dynamics between full-time screamer George Pettit and cleaner-singing guitarists Dallas Green and Wade MacNeil. Planes Mistaken for Stars’ Gared O'Donnell also sings on “You Burn First.” Repressed on “red/white splatter” vinyl for its 20th anniversary, and repackaged with updated artwork.
