Tad may not have been the biggest band to emerge out of the Seattle grunge explosion, but the cult quartet were the grungiest-sounding of the bunch. As with their early Sub Pop releases, major label debut Inhaler trudges through mud-thick grooves with an onslaught of psychedelically-Sabbathian guitar sounds. Produced by Dinosaur Jr.’s J. Mascis and featuring their grotesquely rumbling “Grease Box” single, Inhaler is the audio equivalent of getting caught up in a caustic Pacific Northwest flashflood.
