Os 36 Crazyfists formaram-se em 1994 em Nikiski, Alasca, e lançaram o seu segundo álbum de estúdio, A Snow Capped Romance, em 2004, pela Roadrunner Records. As canções "At the End of August" e "Bloodwork" foram lançadas como singles, tendo a última sido incluída no filme de 2004 Resident Evil: Apocalypse. O álbum foi produzido por James Paul Wisner e é considerado pela comunidade um clássico do metalcore. Os 36 Crazyfists conquistaram o seu lugar na cena metalcore, inspirando-se aqui e ali noutras bandas, mas geralmente criando algo incrivelmente singular e emocionalmente impactante.
