Remastrad från originalanalogbanden av James Guthrie, Joel Plante och Bernie Grundman. The Division Bell är Pink Floyds fjortonde studioalbum. Musiken skrevs mestadels av David Gilmour och Rick Wright; textmässigt behandlar albumet teman som kommunikation. Inspelningen ägde rum på flera platser, inklusive bandets Britannia Row Studios och Gilmours husbåt, Astoria. Produktionsteamet inkluderade Pink Floyd-trogna som producenten Bob Ezrin, ljudteknikern Andy Jackson och saxofonisten Dick Parry. Gilmours nya fru, Polly Samson, skrev många av albumets texter, och Wright gjorde sin första leadsång på ett Pink Floyd-album sedan 1973 års The Dark Side of the Moon.
